The City of San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is the animal housing facility for all of Hays County. We are a part of the Marshal's Office, for the City of San Marcos. As a municipal shelter, our facility is an open admission animal shelter. This means we accept lost and owner surrendered animals from all cities within Hays County, never turning animals away for any reason. Our facility is approximately 15,000 sq. ft. with an Adoption Center and a Receiving/Reclaim Office. The services we offer include Animal Control service for San Marcos city limits, a Volunteer Program, Public Education, and a regular location for Emancipet, a low cost spay/neuter service. We participate annually in events: San Marcos Mutt Strutt, Pet Fest, Spay Day USA and educational/awareness programs: KIND News by Humane Society of the United States and Grant Programs to provide FREE spay and neuter services for those in need of assistance. We have an excellent staff consisting of experience of all levels and backgrounds: Animal Services Manager, Animal Shelter Supervisor, Animal Control Supervisor, Community Outreach Coordinator, Animal Services Administrative Assistant, Animal Services Clerk, 4 Animal Control Officers, 6 Animal Shelter Technicians and Animal Shelter Veterinary Technician. We strive to provide superior standards with a clean and comfortable environment for animals in our care and excellent assistance for the citizens we serve.
