Texas Wild Rice Festival

The Texas Wild Rice Festical is an annual gathering at Sewell Park in San Marcos Texas to celebrate the unique ecosystem that is the San Marcos River. The waters of the San Marcos River have attracted humans for thousands of years making it the oldest continuously inhabited community in North America! San Marcos is home to eight endangered species, four of which are endemic to San Marcos, (Including the Texas Wild Rice). One of the main purposes of this festival is to spread this knowledge and educate all who attend. This special place deserves celebration and we will be doing so with music, art, science, food, local vendors, and free hands-on workshops. This festival is free and funded by community support.
